UCLA Neuroscience Program Ph.D. Admissions Neuroscience Faculty UCLA and Beyond
Selecting a Neuroscience Ph.D. Program at UCLA

Students interested in the nervous system have several options for graduate study at UCLA. Applicants are advised to compare the various admission options to determine which suits their needs best.

The Interdepartmental Ph.D. Program for Neuroscience offers an integrated curriculum for graduate study in neuroscience at all levels including molecular, cellular, developmental, systems, behavioral/cognitive, neuroengineering and clinical investigations. This Ph.D. Program differs from other neuroscience-oriented programs in two ways:
1) It is the only Ph.D. program at UCLA in which a student may join the     laboratory of any faculty neuroscientist on campus.
2) The curriculum of the Interdepartmental Ph.D. Program for Neuroscience emphasizes integration across all levels of analyses, from molecular and cellular to systems and behavioral.

The ACCESS Program offers students the opportunity for studies toward the Ph.D. in various areas of molecular and cellular biology, including neuroscience. Students in this program have the flexibility to train in neuroscience or other areas of the molecular, cellular and integrative life sciences with any faculty in ACCESS member departments.

Departmental Ph.D. Programs. Several departments offer direct admission to a Ph.D. program involving primary faculty in that department. These include:

        Molecular & Medical Pharmacology

        Neurobiology

        Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience Program)

Interdepartmental Ph.D. Programs.

        Molecular, Cellular & Integrative Physiology
